11 Months Old!

Well, it's hard to believe it, but Louisa turned 11 months old yesterday! Everyone tells you time flies by once you have a baby, but I had no idea--it seems like she was just born yesterday! Anyway, we had a very non-eventful day for her 11 month birthday, the day before was so long and exhausting that the two of us just hung out together at home. Alex came home in the early afternoon, but he was post call so he went straight to bed. Louisa took an extra nap so that she could see her daddy, and we all had dinner together around 9pm.

Bath time continues to be Louisa's favorite time of the day, she just can't get enough of playing and splashing in the water. We have finally moved her bath from the kitchen sink (her tub fit right in the sink) to the bathtub, (Louisa started grabbing the kitchen faucet and I started worrying about her turning the water on too hot). The picture to the right is Louisa getting ready to get in the bathtub, she loves watching the water come out of the faucet! Louisa's favorite game right now is in and out, up and down. So, all of her bath toys went in the tub, out of the tub, and over and over. She would play in the tub all night if I let her. But it is the perfect night time activity. She takes her bath, then I give her a massage and put her pajamas on, read her a book (she gets to pick between 2 books--what to expect the first year says I'm supposed to allow her some independence by giving her choices for things that don't matter. Louisa picks her bedtime story and her bib), and she's off to lala land.

Tuesday was exhausting, but it was also very productive. We started the day at the social security office trying (yet again) to get Louisa's social security number. A little background on this story--I applied for Louisa's social security number when she was born, we received the card a few weeks later and put it in a "special" place so that we wouldn't lose it. Unfortunately, we couldn't remember where that "special" place was when we needed it (to file our taxes) and so have been on the hunt for it since April. We don't have Louisa's birth certificate yet, didn't know I would need it so we didn't apply for it until the ssa wouldn't give us the ssn. I've been there for hours on end several times and every time they tell me what to bring, I bring it and it isn't an approved form of identification. You won't believe what finally got the number for me...Louisa's record of Baptism! I still can't believe that, seems weird (especially since all I did to get the record of Baptism was call the church office and tell them when Louisa was born. The hospital records are all official but not acceptable), but whatever, I have her number now and will be receiving a new card within 7-10 business days. Word to the wise--keep track of your children's social security numbers, you need them to file taxes. Luckily, we got the number in time to file within one extension, whew!

Well, once our social security task was completed we headed home for a quick lunch before we were off again, with my friend Trisha, knocking door to door at local businesses for the Forrest Spence Fund. We had another successful day, several businesses showed serious interest, it is just a matter of sending forms in to make things official. It is so exciting! (Louisa was such a good sport going everywhere with us. Of course, she was also mistaken as a boy by several people, and one lady asked us if she was a LeBonheur patient to help us get donations...hmmmm, I don't think so...) Just a reminder, the Forrest Spence 5K is Sept. 6, 2008--check the link to the right and you can sign up to run/walk/stroll in the race. If you are not going to be in Memphis that weekend you can also sign up to be a ghost runner or make a monetary donation. This is a great cause, please consider becoming involved!

After beating the pavement for the FSF we met the other Campell Clinic wives out for dinner at Memphis Pizza Cafe. It was a really nice dinner, so fun to see everyone. We had 3rd year wives (my class) and 2nd year wives there. The 2nd year wives are learning quickly how to live without their husbands home every other day, luckily we were there to let them know how fast it goes by! After dinner, a few of us went for dessert to Muddy's, an awesome bakery which specializes in cupcakes...Louisa finally zonked on the way to Muddy's and slept the whole time we ate there. I had a prozac cupcake (chocolate with chocolate icing) and a Capote (chocolate with vanilla icing) and boy--it was awesome! I can't wait to go back for more. I am also pretty sure that I will be getting Louisa's birthday cake from there, mmmmmmm! Alex was on call Tuesday night, so Louisa and I headed home to an empty house and double checked the alarm and doors. QP was on guard duty that night...

Today was a nice day, Louisa slept in a bit and we met my friend, Shelley, out for lunch. Shelley brought her friend, Elise, who has a baby boy, Ethan, only a few weeks older than Louisa. I love seeing Louisa with other babies her age, she is so fascinated by them, it is fun to watch her! We had a really nice lunch at the Bronte Bistro. Afterwards we went book shopping and Louisa picked out The Very Hungry Caterpillar, an old favorite of mine. Then we raced home to read it. Louisa loved poking her fingers in the holes that the caterpillar ate through, and she loved the colors, it was definitely a hit!

We had rain showers again today which kept us inside all day, but our garden is so happy, you can literally watch the flowers soak up the water (it's been really hot here lately). Alex was home around 6:30, not too late. We were both pretty tired, so we ordered from A-Tan, our favorite neighborhood chinese restaurant. We ate a nice dinner, then Alex was off to bed. Waking up at 4am every day is starting to take its tole on him. Luckily, he does not have to work this weekend, so he will be able to catch up (and hopefully finish the dining room table!).

Tomorrow USAA is coming to fix the crack on the windshield of my car (between 8 and 12, ugh!), then we are going to lunch with my friend (and neighbor), Shannon. Shannon is having a baby and is due the day after Louisa's birthday! We are going back to Jimmy Johns and I am sooo excited about that. Tomorrow is also an exciting day because my friend, Pammy, is being induced (unless she suddenly had her baby tonight) and we all get to meet baby boy Minkler! I can't wait to see pictures, Pammy!
