Summer Trip Home

Well, I packed up the children, threw them in the car and headed towards Charleston. Enough of this HOT Memphis summer--we needed the beach and it's breezes! Chisolm was an amazing traveller, maybe even better than his big sis was at the same age. We only had to make one stop between Memphis and Atlanta (where we stayed with my dear friend, Mary. Seen here testing out the sling with Chisolm--by far my favorite baby apparatus.), and only one stop between Atlanta and Charleston. We made pretty good time and arrived at Lucky's house before we knew it! Mother had the back apartment all fixed up for us and I couldn't believe how perfect it was! So cute and convenient, it made our stay very comfortable and we can't wait to come back!

We spent the first day relaxing with Lucky and recovering from our 2-day drive, we had a BIG week of visiting family and friends and enjoying our time in Charleston. Our first visit was with Charlotte and Heyward. We headed out to Wadmalaw on Saturday and arrived in time for a great lunch. Louisa had so much fun with her grandaddy riding on the tractor:

We're doing some serious farming here!

Check out that huge grin!

After some fun tractor time, Louisa's cousins arrived! Louisa, Kate, and Corbett had a blast in the baby pool:
We also took a quick boat ride and all of the little ones took turns driving the boat! I didn't get any pictures of this, but have a video I will post separately.

We had such a fun day at Wadmalaw and were sad to leave, but we had to head back into town to visit with Great-Grandaddy, Anne, and Katie. We had a quick visit there, but it was so much fun to see them and get to introduce them to Chisolm.

Checking Katie out--she's pretty cool!
Anne and Gr-Grandaddy gave Louisa the cutest Tinkerbell cup which she is now OBSESSED with! I think she drank out of it every meal while we were in Charleston!

So much fun, and to think--that was just our first day in Charleston!
Saturday was so busy, we decided that we were going to lay low on Sunday. We had no plans other than our family dinner that night at the beach, so we did nothing all day. Lucky had to work, so we just hung out around her house and took a quick walk down to the park by her house and played there for a little while. That night, we headed out to Sullivan's Island and had a really nice evening visiting with family that we don't get to see very often, and I was so excited to get to introduce Chisolm to everyone.

Monday was a beach day. My friend, Katie, loaned me her baby tent for the beach and it was perfect for Chisolm--he was able to sleep while Louisa and I played on the beach! Louisa had a lot of fun with her FCOR's (first cousin once removed, my first cousins).

Running after the birdies--she tried so hard to catch one!

Peter, look over there...

This child ran and ran and ran the ENTIRE time we were on the beach. I think it is safe to say that she loved it!

We had so much fun, I wish I could detail every minute of our time in Charleston. Alas, that would take volumes to do. Here are some pictures to highlight our time in Charleston:

Loving my visit with Lucky. Do you think I've grown since you saw me?!

We saw so many other family and friends that we didn't get to take pictures with. Mama needs to do a much better job of getting that camera out on our next visit home! Chisolm got to meet Aunt Reeves and Uncle Billy and can't wait for his cousin to be born. They will only be 6 months apart! Chisolm also got to meet his cousin, Stuart. They are only 1 week apart in age! We can't wait for fun playdates in the future when all of these little guys are running around and playing together! Here are a few pictures of Louisa and Chisolm. She is such a good big sis, and he is such a smiley little guy. We are truly blessed!

And how to play with them...

They just love each other!

He just smiles and smiles for his mama!
