We had some fun visitors last weekend. Alex's good friend, Robert, and his wife, Anne Carter,
drove up from Birmingham for the weekend. We had all sorts of fun plans for Memphis in May's Music Festival and other fun "Memphian" things, but with torrential downpours the entire weekend, we were left to find other things to do. We had a fun bowling tournament on Saturday. The Finch's won the first game, and the girls won the second! Louisa was a good sport all afternoon at the bowling alley. She is still too small to get the ball down the alley, but she
helped her Mama roll a few balls down the alley and had a great time just checking everything out! As it turns out, the Kentucky Derby was about to run once we finished our games. Luckily, the bowling alley bar was completely empty and closed in, so we got to watch the Derby on big screen tv's without a crowd! Louisa had a great time watching the horsies. We split the field into groups of 5 and each made a bet of $1. I chos
e group 2 (horses 6-10, my favorite number is 9, of course) and won! It was an exciting race as #8 came from almost last to win the race by a long shot!
We left the bowling alley and took Louisa to Kid Station, a great place we have here in Memphis--a drop off babysitting service. They have so many exciting things to do and Louisa just loves it. They serve dinner and play hard, so kids are tired when you pick them up. Once it was grown-ups only, we headed downtown to eat dinner at Rendezvous Ribs-mmmmmmm! We were lucky and found great, FREE parking right near the restaurant and headed on over. The wait was only about 30 mintues which wasn't too bad, and we had the most delicious dinner--the ribs were fantastic! Wish we could eat there more often, but we try to save it for when people visit from out of town so that we don't get sick of it. After dinner, we headed back towards home, picked up Louisa, and just hung out at our house for the rest of the night.
Sunday meant the Finch's were leaving and we were all sad--it was such a fun weekend! On a side note, Louisa was attached to Robert at the hip and was very sad to see him leave. While he was visiting, she would run down the hallway yelling "Robber" over and over again looking for him. She is still obsessed and asks "where's Robber" every morning until I show her a picture we have of Robert and Anne Carter. It is pretty funny.
We loved our visitors and can't wait to see them again soon!
