The Zoo

We were so lucky to have Alex's parents visit us shortly after Chisolm was born too. They were here for one night while Lucky was still here and we all had a wonderful dinner and so much fun celebrating Chisolm's birth together. Lucky had to leave on Saturday morning (Chisolm's 2 week birthday--time is just flying!), but Charlotte and Heyward were here for the rest of the weekend. Saturday afternoon we went to the Peabody Hotel to see the famous Peabody ducks march to the elevator. Boy was it crowded! Louisa sat on Heyward's shoulders and had a good view--she loved the ducks. Then we sat in the Peabody for a drink before we headed out to our favorite mexican restaurant, The Happy Mexican! We had a nice dinner there and were able to sit outside on the pattio.

Sunday we got up and headed out to the zoo! It was Alex's first trip to the zoo, so Lousia and I were very excited to show her father and grandparents all of her favorite exhibits. Charlotte was so sweet and bought us a family membership for 1 year. We are so excited, the zoo is one of our favorite activities (Louisa just LOVES animals!). We had such a fun visit and got to

see the lions, flamingos, polar bears (that's the polar bear pool in the picture behind Louisa and Charlotte), seals, and monkeys. Louisa also had a fun ride on the Carousel at the zoo. We can't wait to use our membership and go back!

After we put Louisa to sleep, we had a delicious fondue dinner with Charlotte and Heyward before we had to say our goodbyes. We were sad to have such a short visit with them, but glad that they were able to make it to Memphis to meet the new guy!

The Forrest Spence Fund

Brittany and David Spence are an amazing couple. They had their beautiful son, Robert Forrest Spence, in September of 2007. Sadly, due to an infection, Forrest lived only 55 days. To honor their son's life and the impact he had on so many people, Brittany and David have created the Forrest Spence Fund. The mission of the Forrest Spence Fund is to assist with the non-medical needs of critically and chronically ill children and their families throughout the Mid-South.

Brittany and David are a truly inspirational couple who have taken the heartbreak they have experienced from losing their son and have found a way to give back to a hospital that fought for Forrest and to reach out to families who are going through a similar experience.

If you will not be in Memphis on August 27th or do not live here, you can still participate by being a "ghost runner" or by making a monetary donation.
