I am v
ery blessed to have a mother who was willing to take time off of work and come out to Memphis to take care of Louisa for 2 weeks so that I could recover and focus on the baby. It turned out to be a necessity after my emergency c-section--no lifting Louisa for 2 weeks and no driving for 2 weeks (Alex was only able to take off 2 days, so without my mother, I would have been flying solo as soon as I got home from the hospital)! I am also blessed becuase not only was she willing to do this for me, but she is wonderful with children. She could hold the baby and make him stop crying if I needed a minute, she could keep Louisa entertained and happy while I was taking care of the baby, and I got sleep. Yes, that's right, I got sleep the first 2 weeks of Chisolm's life. Not many people can say that, I know, and I couldn't have without my mother, but thank goodness for her visit is all I can say!
Mother was there to help me give Chisolm his first bath. His umbilical cord did get wet, but it all turned out ok. Chisolm wasn't sure whether he liked the bath or not and went back and forth between screaming and cooing the whole time.

Although we might not know if Chisolm is going to like his baths yet, one thing we can say is that it tuckered him out!
