The snow day was fun and we had more fun in store for that night, Louisa had 4 friends c
oming over for the evening! We have joined a "babysitting co-op" with 3 other coupl
es and we each take turns watching all the kids one night every 4 weeks. It's great because it gives each couple 3 free date nights. Of course, right now there are 5 kids total but we have 3 more on the way this spring and summer--it should be interesting with 8 kids in one night...Anyway, This was our first turn at hosting all the kids and it went well. We had hotdogs and mac and cheese for dinner, then all the kids decorated cookies for dessert. Fun was had by all, especially Louisa who ended up with a multi-colored mouth, face, hands, shirt, pants, etc...The evening ended with a cam
ping party in the living room where all the kids "camped-out" in the living room un their sleeping bags until their parents came back to get them. A great time was had by everyone and Alex and I made it through the night!
A fun night led to a more fun family day! We woke up on Sunday morning to a beautiful snow-filled yard. Alex got Louisa up and started with breakfast and let me sleep in a little bit while he made us crepes. The batter had to sit for a while, so we all got dressed for the cold and headed
outside to make a snowman. Even QP joined in the fun outside. Of course, he was covered in snow pretty quickly and we had to take him back inside to thaw out. The snow was a little funny and wouldn't roll for the snowman, so we resorted to shoveling which worked quite well. Louisa and I ran around the house looking for good attire for the snoman while Alex got started on the building. I found a top hat and scarf from our dress-up box and Alex built eyes, buttons, and a mouth. Alex started the shoveling in top hat, he looked quite dapper! Louisa only lasted a little while before she got too cold. Of course, Alex and I were having so much fun building the snowman that we just put Louisa inside with the door open and Louisa watched from the d
oor while we finished the snowman. I have to say, I think it turned out quite well--we are very proud of our snowman! Once he was finished, we ran inside and foun
d a little table and tri-pod for the camera and took bunches of pictures. Then we headed inside for our crepes which were delicious! Strawberry and raspberry crepes with chocolate syrup drizzled on top, mmmmmm! Of course, after working so hard on the snowman we were still hungry after our crepes, so Alex ran to the store for more supplies and came home to make yummy paninis for lunch. Louisa napped and we watched movies in the warm sunroom (the only warm room in the house right now). Once Louisa woke up we were back outside to enjoy the snow before the sun went down and it's warmth went away.

One of my favorite things to have for dinner, but we never have it. He opted for Beer Cheddar Fondue instead of the traditional Emmenthal and Gruyere for the sake of saving money. It was really good. We had cheese fondue and watched Life on Mars on the TV. All in all, it was a really fun day. We were all sad to see the weekend go--it was so much fun!
