Here are the Easter baskets my children woke up to on Easter morning (Alex was post call, so he didn't get home until Sunday afternoon. We are ready to be finished at the Med!).

And here is a picture of my first Diet Coke in 6 weeks! Whew--that was a hard one this time. But, it was awesome to have something that was difficult to give up. Each time I looked at a diet coke in the ice box I had to remind myself why I wasn't going to drink it. The suffering Jesus did for us as he was beaten and hung on the cross to die is waaaaay more than anything I can imagine suffering through. Not drinking that diet coke was a great dialy reminder to me of God's love for us.

The Forrest Spence Fund

Brittany and David Spence are an amazing couple. They had their beautiful son, Robert Forrest Spence, in September of 2007. Sadly, due to an infection, Forrest lived only 55 days. To honor their son's life and the impact he had on so many people, Brittany and David have created the Forrest Spence Fund. The mission of the Forrest Spence Fund is to assist with the non-medical needs of critically and chronically ill children and their families throughout the Mid-South.

Brittany and David are a truly inspirational couple who have taken the heartbreak they have experienced from losing their son and have found a way to give back to a hospital that fought for Forrest and to reach out to families who are going through a similar experience.
